Patellofemoral stress syndrome (PFSS) is a type of overuse injury that causes pain in the soft tissues and bone in the front of the knee. Also known as "runner's knee" or "jumper's knee," PFSS develops with repeated vigorous knee stress caused by jogging, climbing stairs, squatting, or jumping.
